Jio Wrong Number Recharge: How to Cancel & Get a Refund

If you recharged the wrong Jio number, then take a deep breath - You may still cancel the recharge and get the refund. But with some conditions, so read carefully.

Jio currently provides a Recharge Reversal facility for eligible prepaid and postpaid recharges made. This can be availed through MyJio or Jio.com, but you need to act within the applicable cancellation period. For most standard plans, the cancellation window is 3 hours after the recharge is done.

However, the process is different if you use Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or another third-party platform. Jio's current self-service reversal facility does not cover those recharges. So below steps explain clearly what you can do in each situation and how to contact Jio if you need a refund.

Jio Wrong Number Recharge: What To Do?

If you made a wrong Jio recharge through MyJio app or Jio.com, log in to the Jio number that received the recharge, open its recharge history and check for the Cancel or Cancel Plan option. If the recharge is eligible, Jio will let you choose a refund method after cancellation.

For most standard plans, you have 3 hours to request the cancellation. International Roaming and ISD plans generally have a 2-hour window. Jio also says the Cancel option may take up to 30 minutes to appear.

If you made the wrong recharge through Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or a retailer, Jio's self-service Recharge Reversal facility does not apply. In that case, contact Jio with the recharge details and, where applicable, use the payment app's available help or dispute options.

How to Cancel Jio Recharge and Get Refund

You can cancel an eligible Jio recharge through MyJio or Jio.com if it was made directly through those channels. The cancellation has to be initiated within the applicable time limit, and Jio checks the transaction before allowing the reversal.

Steps to cancel a Jio recharge in MyJio App

  1. Open the MyJio app and log in.

  2. Make sure you are logged in to the Jio number that received the recharge.

  3. Open Recharges & History.

  4. For prepaid, open Recharge History and find the relevant recharge.

  5. Tap View Details.

  6. Look for the Cancel option.

  7. Tap Cancel Plan and follow the instructions.

  8. Choose the available refund method and confirm the cancellation.

Note: If you accidentally recharged someone else's Jio number, you need access to that number's account to initiate the cancellation. According to Jio, the wrong-number recharge must be cancelled from the account of the number that received it.

What If Jio Recharge Cancel Option Is Not Showing?

Jio recharge cancel option may take up to 30 minutes to show after recharge. Refresh the MyJio app and reopen the recharge details rather than assuming that the transaction is already ineligible.

If the cancellation option still does not appear in MyJio, Jio recommends logging in to Jio.com through a browser and checking the transaction there. This is especially important when the cancellation window is getting close to expiring.

If you click Cancel and receive an error or a "Request Failed" message, it is probably either due to the plan being no longer eligible, allowed time has passed or usage has been detected.

Jio Wrong Recharge Reversal Online: How It Works

The official online reversal process is available through MyJio app and Jio.com for eligible transactions. It is not a separate third-party refund website where you enter your mobile number and payment details; the reversal is initiated from the Jio account associated with the recharge.

If you accidentally recharged someone else's Jio number, you need to log in to that number's Jio account to check the recharge and cancel it. The recharge will not appear in your own MyJio account because it was added to the other number.

Jio Wrong Number Recharge Refund: How Will You Get the Money?

If your wrong recharge is eligible for cancellation, Jio gives two refund options: MyJio Store Credit or a refund to your original payment method. Store Credit is faster, but you can only use it for Jio services.

If you choose a refund to your original payment method, Jio says it can take up to 21 business days for the money to reach your account. So, even after the recharge is cancelled, you may have to wait for the refund to arrive.

MyJio Store Credit is different from a normal bank, card or UPI refund. The credit can be used for Jio services, but you cannot transfer it to your bank account or withdraw it as cash.

Jio Recharge Refund Helpline Number

If you cannot cancel an eligible recharge online or need help with a refund, you can contact Jio customer care. Jio currently lists 199 as the customer-care number for mobile queries when calling from a Jio number and 1800-889-9999 for mobile users calling from a non-Jio number.

For a complaint, Jio lists 198 as the mobile complaint helpline when calling from a Jio number. You can also use Jio's online chat and support options if you prefer not to call.

Jio Wrong Recharge Complaint Number

For a formal mobile complaint, Jio currently lists 198 when calling from a Jio number. If you are calling from another network, Jio's customer-care number is 1800-889-9999.

However, calling customer care does not automatically guarantee that a wrong recharge will be refunded. If the transaction is eligible for Jio's online Recharge Reversal facility, using the cancellation option is generally the more direct route.

If the online option is unavailable or you encounter an error, the complaint route becomes useful for explaining the problem and asking Jio to review the transaction.

Recharged Wrong Number Jio Google Pay: What Should You Do?

If you recharged the wrong Jio number through Google Pay, you cannot use Jio's MyJio Recharge Reversal feature as Jio specifically excludes third-party app recharges from its self-service cancellation facility.

Google Pay says that wrong-number recharges should be handled by the mobile operator. Since this is a Jio recharge, contact Jio customer care at 199 from a Jio number or 1800-889-9999 from another network.

So if the situation is "recharged wrong number Jio Google Pay," your first step is to contact Jio rather than expecting a Cancel button inside Google Pay to reverse the successful recharge.

If you need to report the transaction through Google Pay, open the app, go to transaction history, select the relevant recharge, and use the available help or dispute options. Google Pay says that the Raise dispute option for a bill payment or recharge becomes available after 48 hours from the transaction initiation.

How to Reverse Wrong Recharge in GPay

A successful Google Pay mobile recharge generally cannot simply be reversed by cancelling the UPI payment after you have completed the transaction. Google Pay's guidance for an incorrect recharge is to contact the operator or biller for further assistance.

For a Jio recharge, that means contacting Jio with the transaction details rather than treating it like an ordinary UPI transfer to another person. Google Pay acts as the payment platform, while Jio is the mobile operator providing the recharge service.

If you need to raise a Google Pay dispute, you can select the recharge from See transaction history and follow the available dispute instructions as discussed above. Accordingly, the dispute option for recharge transactions becomes available after 48 hours.

Can You Transfer a Wrong Jio Recharge to Another Number?

No, you cannot transfer a wrong Jio recharge directly to another Jio number. If you accidentally recharged someone else's number, Jio's Recharge Reversal process works by cancelling the eligible recharge and processing the applicable refund or credit; it does not move the existing recharge from the wrong number to your number.

If the recharge is eligible for reversal, you can try to cancel it through the available Jio recharge reversal option. Once the reversal is processed, you can recharge your own Jio number separately with the required plan..

Before You Go …

Not every recharge is eligible for Jio's self-service reversal. The feature is available only for eligible prepaid and postpaid mobile recharges and does not cover postpaid bill payments, corporate or enterprise accounts, or recharges made through third-party retailers or dealers. For more information,  contact Jio using 198 from a Jio number or 1800-889-9999 from a non-Jio number.
