Have you deleted your Jio eSIM accidentally? Then you might be looking for a solution for it. To recover deleted Jio eSIM, you have to visit the Jio Store with your phone and Aadhaar or another valid ID and ask for a new eSIM for the same Jio number. Jio says a deleted eSIM cannot be configured again through the normal SMS process.
But before you take any decision, you must understand what are the right steps as soon as your eSIM is deleted accidentally. This article explains everything about the Jio eSIM recovery process with do’s and don'ts.
Quick Steps When Jio eSIM Deleted Accidentally?
Take the phone to a Jio Store.
Carry Aadhaar or another valid proof of identity.
Tell them: “I accidentally deleted my Jio eSIM and need a replacement eSIM for the same number.”
The store will process a new eSIM request.
Don't Do These Things
Don't keep deleting/erasing SIM profiles.
Don't assume your number has been permanently cancelled.
Don't rely on the normal SMS eSIM activation process after deletion.
Don't reset the phone just to try to fix the eSIM.
Don't change the number linked to WhatsApp or banking apps just because the eSIM disappeared.
Explained: What to Do If Your Jio eSIM Is Deleted Accidentally
If you accidentally clicked Erase eSIM, Remove Data Plan, or a similar option in your phone's SIM settings, follow these steps:
Keep the phone with you.
Do not keep trying random eSIM activation methods.
Visit a nearby Jio Store.
Take your phone and a valid proof of identity, such as Aadhaar.
Tell the Jio representative that your existing Jio eSIM profile was accidentally deleted and you need a replacement eSIM.
Jio's own eSIM guides specifically instruct customers with a deleted eSIM profile to visit a Jio Store with proof of identity and the device.
Can You Recover a Deleted Jio eSIM Online?
No. If the Jio eSIM profile is deleted, it cannot be recovered online. Jio instructs customers to visit a Jio Store to request a new eSIM. The normal online/SMS eSIM activation process cannot be used to recover the deleted profile. The normal Jio eSIM process is designed for switching a physical SIM to eSIM or transferring an active eSIM to another device. It uses MyJio, email verification, EID, OTP and an IVR confirmation.
Will You Get the Same Jio Number Back?
Yes, of course. You will get the same number back even if Jio eSIM is deleted. The entire replacement eSIM process is simple for this purpose. Deleting an eSIM profile from your phone is different from voluntarily giving up your mobile number. Jio's instructions tell customers with a deleted eSIM profile to request a new eSIM at a Jio Store.
Your immediate problem is that the Jio eSIM profile that connected your number to the phone has been removed.
Do You Need to Visit a Jio Store to Restore Your Jio eSIM?
Yes. Visiting the Jio store is mandatory to restore your deleted Jio eSIM. As per the guidelines, Jio says to visit the nearest Jio Store with:
Your eSIM-enabled phone
Aadhaar or another valid proof of identity
The store can process the new eSIM request for your existing Jio connection.
Can You Use the Old eSIM QR Code Again?
You should not rely on the old QR code to recover a deleted Jio eSIM. Jio's own documentation does not tell customers to reuse the previous QR code after accidentally deleting the profile. Instead, it directs them to a Jio Store for a new eSIM request.
What If You Still Have the Old Physical Jio SIM?
If you still have the old physical Jio SIM that was used before you switched to eSIM, putting it back into your phone will not normally restore your Jio service. When your Jio number is converted from a physical SIM to an eSIM, the physical SIM is deactivated. After that, your Jio number works through the eSIM profile on your phone. If you later delete that eSIM profile, the old physical SIM will not bring the service back. The safest option is to visit a Jio Store with your phone and valid ID and request a replacement SIM or eSIM for the same Jio number.
What If the Jio Number Is Registered in Someone Else's Name?
The old physical Jio SIM will not work if your number has already been transferred to an active eSIM. Once the number is moved to eSIM, the physical SIM is normally deactivated.
So, if you delete the eSIM profile later, putting that old physical SIM back into the phone will not normally restore your mobile service. The number needs to be reissued on a new SIM or eSIM through Jio's replacement process.
If you have deleted your Jio eSIM accidentally, take your phone and valid ID to a Jio Store and ask for a replacement SIM/eSIM for the same number.
Will Your Jio Recharge or Number Be Lost?
No, deleting the eSIM profile does not mean that your mobile number or existing recharge has disappeared. The Jio recovery process is specifically designed for getting the Jio service working again by issuing a new eSIM.
However, while the eSIM is deleted and your service is unavailable, you may not be able to receive calls, SMS or OTPs on that number. This can temporarily affect services that depend on your mobile number for verification.
What About WhatsApp, UPI and Bank OTPs?
Your WhatsApp account and other services linked to your mobile number are not automatically deleted just because the eSIM profile was removed from your phone.
The immediate issue is access to the mobile connection. If a bank, UPI app or another service needs to send an OTP to your Jio number, you may not receive it until your Jio service is restored. If your phone shows a SIM not provisioned error after the eSIM is deleted, you can also check our guide on what “SIM Not Provisioned” means and how to fix it.
Therefore, if you accidentally deleted your Jio eSIM, recover the mobile connection first rather than trying to change the phone number linked to your accounts.
What If You Deleted the eSIM While Changing Phones?
If your old Jio eSIM is still active, Jio has a normal process for transferring the number to another eSIM-enabled device. The process can be started through MyJio and involves the new phone's EID, OTP and an IVR confirmation.
But if you have already deleted the old eSIM profile, the situation changes. Jio's documentation says that a deleted profile requires a visit to a Jio Store and cannot be configured again through the SMS process.
So do not delete the old eSIM until the transfer to the new phone has successfully completed.
How to Avoid This Problem Next Time
Be careful when you see options such as:
Erase eSIM
Remove Data Plan
Delete SIM
Remove Mobile Plan
These options can permanently remove the eSIM profile from your device. Jio's device guides specifically warn users not to select the erase/remove option because it deletes the eSIM profile and stops Jio services from working.
If you are moving your Jio eSIM to a new phone, complete the transfer first and make sure the new phone has network service before resetting or erasing the old phone.
Before You Go …
If your Jio eSIM was deleted accidentally, you cannot restore the deleted profile by simply downloading it again or using the normal SMS activation process.
Visit a Jio Store with your phone and Aadhaar or another valid proof of identity and request a new eSIM for your existing Jio connection. Jio specifically recommends this process for deleted eSIM profiles.
If you are currently changing phones, remember that transferring an active Jio eSIM is different from recovering an already deleted eSIM. Do not erase the old eSIM until the transfer is complete.
